There is no truth in the story making the rounds that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) have staged a crackdown on former Imo governor Rochas Okorocha, his wife Nkechi and some other members of his family.
A report, shared by multiple news platforms claimed that the EFCC arrested Okorocha’s wife Nkechi and other relations, Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha in Ogboko, Okorocha’s hometown.
The report also claimed that the commission has sealed Okorocha’s Eastern Palm University Ogboko.
When asked to confirm the report, an EFCC source confirmed to Punch that the whole story was concocted.
“It is fake news”, he said.
One of Okorocha’s allies, Onwuasoanya Jones in reaction to the story wrote;
The immediate past governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha is relaxing with family members, friends, political associates and most especially, some thousands of children of the Rochas Foundation College of Africa in Owerri, Imo State.
Those who initiated and are spreading the false report of his arrest are some paranoid political opportunists who cannot contend with the indefatigable and indomitable spirit of the Ogboko born billionaire philanthropist and human developer per excellence.
