Former Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Femi Fani-Kayode has voiced his suspicion over the manner trucks allegedly belonging to the Dangote Group has been used recently in migration of Almagiris from the Northern part of Nigeria to the South.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Thursday morning, Fani-Kayode asked “what Aliko Dangote is up to” as he pointed out that Dangote trucks have killed more people in a month than COVID-19 and Malaria. FFK went on to lament that the culprits in these accidents have always got away without prosecution.
FFK wrote: “Why do Dangote trucks kill more people in a month in Nigeria than COVID-19 and malaria and how come they get away with it?”
“Why are they smuggling thousands of almajiris, ISWA, and Boko Haram fighters and Fulani herdsmen into the south every day? What is Aliko Dangote up to?”
However, FFK is not the only one who has accused the Dangote Truck drivers of using their trucks to carry out suspicious activities. President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo had raised similar alarm and the company relied.
In a letter addressed to John Nwodo, entitled, ‘Allegation of illegal haulage against Dangote Industries Ltd’, signed by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Communications Officer, the company denied the allegations that its trucks are used to carry out illegal activities and appealed to the public to expose drivers carrying out such activities.
Dangote insisted that its trucks are permitted to transport only cement, limestone, high grade gypsum, sugar, salt, seasoning, and branded sacks/bags.
The letter urged members of the public to report any Dangote truck driver involved in such illegal activities, adding details such as truck type, content, colour, plate number, location, and if possible, photographs.
