FG starts rehabilitation, equiping of Police stations and barracks

The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi has revealed during the ‘PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023)’ the approval of the Federal Government to rehabilitate police stations and barracks for better performance.

In this Abuja-held event anchored by the Ministry of Information, it was also announced that Zones 1 and 2 headquarters and Force headquarters have been approved for installation of intelligence equipments.

Training institutions have been upgraded, hospitals/ health centres have been built, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has been equipped, the Detective College in Enugu has been rehabilitated, and the Cyber Crime Control Centre has been established. All of these have been done by the Police.

Also, there are stations and barracks either under rehabilitation or under repair in Abia, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Kebbi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Plateau, Sokoto, Yobe, and the FCT. The projects cost a total of approximately N5billion.

Minister Dingyadi hailed the maximization of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) and Special Tactical Squad (FIB-STS).

“The Interpol cybercrime unit is empowered to mitigate possible cyber-attacks”, he says.

He also noted that operational, intelligence, and ICT-based apparatuses are being sent for use to curb crimes and social disturbances in Nigeria.

Minister Dingyadi also said that the “‘NPF Rescue Me’, an application for emergency response; NPF Crime and Incident Database Centre; the Interpol Cybercrime Reporting platform at incb.npf.gov.ng is available 24/7 for the reportage of cybercrime-related complaints.”

Amongst the offences treated by the crime Act is the making and sharing of child erotica.
