House of Reps postpones plenary over the sudden death of a member

The House of Representatives, on 11th October, postponed plenary over the sudden death of the lawmaker representing Isa/Sabon Birni Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, Abdulkadir Danbuga.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Danbuga, who was elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, died in the early hours of yesterday, 11th October at the age of 63.

Postponing the plenary, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, said that it was a tragic day for the parliament.

“We are united by this call to serve this nation. When one is down, we are all down. This is a sad day for the parliament.

“Look at his toil to win the election, his toil to represent his people, all that money, all the effort, all that energy going down the drain today. It is sad. It is sad for the family, it is sad for the nation,” he said.

Danbuga’s remains were laid to rest at his hometown of Unguwar lalle in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State according to Islamic rites.
