I have not moved to a new platform – Obaseki makes U-turn after Oshiomhole’s sack

Despite the public display of meetings with the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party and his open resignation from the All Progressives Party, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has now announced that he has not moved to a new political party yet.

The governor openly resigned his membership from APC yesterday June 16, and this ignited rumors that he has defected to the PDP where he will be running for a re-election.

Afterwards, his Deputy, Philip Shuaibu declared for the PDP and shared a video of him removing the APC flag from his office.

However in a tweet posted today, June 17 the governor said he is yet to move to a new platform.

”I have not moved to a new platform yet to seek re-election. My focus now is to control the spread of the coronavirus (#COVID19) pandemic, which is ravaging our country and threatening our healthcare system. Stay safe.” he tweeted

Political pundits believe that the governor might change his mind after the Appeal in Abuja upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the APC. They believe that the emergence of Senator Abiola Ajimobi as the acting National Chairman, Obaseki might have a chance to contest the APC Primaries in Edo.
