A student of UBE Oju Centre, in junior secondary, class 3, allegedly beat his teacher to d3ath during a confrontation over a seized school cap.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, the 16-year-old suspect, identified as Friday Ogamude, confronted his teacher, Mr. Oyibe Oyibe, aged 35, over a cap the teacher had confiscated since May 2025.
The confrontation quickly escalated when the student allegedly struck the teacher during a heated exchange.
The teacher reportedly fell on the spot. He was immediately rushed to Amara Hospital, Oju, where he was confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor.
The body of the deceased has been photographed and deposited at the General Hospital, Oju, for autopsy, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Police say the suspect was arrested as the command condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served as investigation into the matter continues.
