Just in: Suspected IPOB members attack Rotimi Amaechi in Spain

A group of Nigerians in Spain who are suspected to be irate members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) attacked Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation today in Madrid, Spain.

It was learnt that the attack on the minister took place while he was on a national assignment.

The minister confirmed the attack on his official Twitter handle, adding that the attackers were repelled by the Spanish police.

“Some minutes ago, I was attacked by a few misguided Nigerians while on national assignment at a climate change event in Madrid, Spain,” he said.

“They were quickly repelled by the Spanish police before they could do any harm. I am fine. I was not hurt. Thanks for your support & prayers.”

IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Poweful who was contacted to confirm the incident could not immediately confirm it but promised to get back with info on what happened.

Speaking with TheCable, Powerful said: ”Let me talk to our people in Spain and get back to you,” before adding that some politicians who seem to be against the interest of the Igbo “must be brought down.”
