Kidnappers of former Nasarawa dep. gov demand N70m ransom

The kidnappers of Professor Onje Gye-Wado, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, have demanded a ransom price of N70 million to release Gye-Wado.

According to a family source who is keeping close step with the matter, the abductors, for the first time since the kidnap on Friday morning, called the family.

Onje Gye-Wado was reportedly taken captive by armed men on Friday, April 7th, in Aprilin Gwagi village of Wamba L.G.A.

The source narrated that the family are begging the kidnappers to reconsider and accept N2 million instead of the N70 million, owing to the cash scarcity occasioned by the Easter holiday.

The source said: “The kidnappers are in touch with the family of Prof and they have demanded the sum of N70 million, but we are appealing that they should collect N2 million because we can not raise anything more than that due to the public holidays declared by the Federal Government for the Easter celebration.”
