Labour Party chairman, Julius Abure meets Nyesom Wike in Abuja

When it comes to politics, there are always moves and counter moves and if you are wondering what’s going on in the photo, wonder no more because the embattled National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure is the one who has just paid a visit to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike in Abuja.

The question on the mind of many after the photos popped up on social media this Sunday, July 13, is: “What is Abure doing with Wike who has his one leg in APC, and another in PDP?”

When Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka confirmed the meeting of two, he didn’t spill details of the meeting but many believe that internal crisis within the Labour Party could be the reason.

Recall that earlier this month, ExpressiveInfo reported that Abure’s faction of the party issued an ultimatum demanding that Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, leave the party within 48 hours after Obi joined the ADC-led coalition. The party has also announced its intention to expel the former governor.

In response, the faction loyal to Obi, led by Nenadi Usman, countered that the national leadership had officially sanctioned Obi’s participation in the coalition. She labelled Abure’s faction as illegitimate and politically motivated.

On July 2, 2025, leading opposition politicians, including Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, and David Mark, officially launched the coalition under the ADC umbrella.

We will have to keep our fingers crossed as we wait details of Wike/Abure meeting.
