Ngor Okpala: How the Imo Bye-Election is going so far

The Bye-Election to fill the vacant Ngor Okpala State Constituency seat at the Imo State House of Assembly is already underway as the exercise began as early as 8am several parts of the constituency.

The adhoc staff of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived various polling units with election materials to begin the process in time. Some adhoc officials arrived as early as 7am and immediately started setting up the booths.

The by-election is being viewed as a litmus test of the popularity of incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma and his Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his ouster of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through the judgement of the Supreme Court on the 14th of January 2020.

The main contestants in the today’s Bye-Election are Amajirionwu Blyden Okanni of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Emeka Nwachukwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Christopher Nwaiwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
