Nigeria senate gets new leadership structure

The leadership of Senate of the federal republic of Nigeria got a new look on Wednesday following the announcement from Senate President Godswill Akpabio on the floor of the Red Chambers.

Akpabio announced the fill-up of the vacuum created with the appointment of Dave Umahi as Minister of Works. Umahi was the Deputy Majority Leader prior to his appointment.

Today, at plenary, Akpabio announced that the Deputy Chief Whip, Lola Ashiru has now been stepped-up to the position of Deputy Majority Leader.

Similarly, the Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi representing Ebonyi North was appointed the new Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate.

Godswill Akpabio – Senate President  (Akwa Ibom North-West, APC)
Barau Jibrin – Deputy Senate President (Kano North, APC)

Opeyemi Bamidele – Senate Majority Leader (Ekiti Central, APC)
Lola Ashiru – Deputy Majority Leader (Kwara South, APC)

Mwadkwon Davou – Senate Minority Leader (Plateau North, PDP)
Kamorudeen Olarere – Deputy Minority Leader (Osun West, PDP)
Ali Ndume – Chief Whip (Borno South, APC)

Onyekachi Nwebonyi – Deputy Whip (Ebonyi North, APC)
Darlington Nwokeocha – Senate Minority Whip (Abia Central, LP)
Rufai Hanga – Deputy Minority Whip (Kano Central, NNPP).
