Olympiacos football club Owner, Evangelos Marinakis reveals he has Coronavirus

The Billionaire owner of Greek club Olympiacos and English club Notthingham Forest, Evangelos Marinakis, has announced that he has contracted the deadly coronavirus.

The announcement, shared by Marinakis on his Instagram page, has sparked fears among British health authorities who believe Notthingham forest players and staff may have contracted the virus as Marinakis shook and snapped with the players and fans on Friday night’s 3-0 defeat to Milwall.

With skin-to-skin contact being one of the ways in which coronavirus is transferred, the club’s players will now have to be tested for the deadly virus that has killed hundreds across Europe and infected thousands already.

There will also be concerns over the fans who met with Marinakis outside the ground after the game, as the English Football League has confirmed the club’s next fixture away at Sheffield on Saturday will be played in a closed stadium without fans.

Posting on Instagarm Tuesday, he wrote; “The recent virus has ‘visited’ me and I felt obliged to let the public know,”

“I feel good as I take all the necessary measures and I discipline to the doctors instructions. I strongly advise all my fellow citizens to do the same. I wish all a quick recovery.”

A club spokesman for Millwall said: “Millwall are aware of the news and are seeking appropriate medical advice and guidance. All necessary precautions are already being taken.” The Guardian has contacted Nottingham Forest for comment.
