Governor Hope Uzodimma on Tuesday hosted traditional rulers and stakeholders from Orlu Local Government Area.
Orlu has been in the news recently following security tension hovering the area due to the constant gun battle between Nigeria’s security agencies and members of Eastern Security Network of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The police and army had accused ESN and IPOB of causing the mayhem in the area, while the secessionist group also accused the Nigerian security agents of attacking ESN operatives who were only in the bushes protecting communities from invading armed Fulani Herdsmen.
While hosting Orlu stakeholders on Tuesday morning, Governor Uzodinma said, “The session availed us veritable platform to share ideas in order for us to understand challenges peculiar to them. It was also an opportunity to intimate them on government plans and programmes for the LGA.
“We believe that this process will open a good window for the people to know their government better and vice versa. The interaction session continues with the other Local Government Areas in the state.”
Meanwhile, the meeting with Orlu stakeholder is the first of other visits scheduled by the Imo State Governor to meet all the stakeholders of in the State.
