The Student Union Government (SUG) election of Rufus Giwa polytechnic, Owo in Ondo turned violent, leading to the killing of a student of the institution.
It was gathered that the murdered student who is yet to be identified was shot by a rival cult group outside of school campus.
According to reports, two rival cult groups interested in the election clashed when it was obvious the other had lost out in the election. They triggered the violence since the outcome of the election wasn’t in their favour.

Meanwhile the management of the institution had reportedly declared the election inconclusive earlier because of the number of students who turned up for the election. The school management is yet to issue a formal statement on the new development.
