U.S President, Joe Biden on Tuesday addressed the press on the Ukraine-Russia border crisis.
While speaking at the White House, Biden said that US agrees with Russia that diplomacy is the key path forward and should be used at “every opportunity,” with “written understandings”.
Biden indicated the possibility of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, despite some of Moscow’s units withdrawing, adding that the US intelligence “has not verified” the withdrawal of Russian troops upon the ending of military drills in the region.
Biden told the Russian people, “You are not our enemy,” and reiterated that the US has no intention of sending combat troops to Ukraine should conflict break out.
However, he said that should Russia invade, the West will unleash a full package of sanctions targeting all of Russia’s industries, including Nord Stream 2.
President Putin Tuesday dismissed the idea of an invasion, saying “Do we want war? Of course not,” during a presser with German Chancellor Scholz.
