Senator Dino Melaye finally resigns from PDP

Dino Melaye, Former Senator and 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the party has no ability to deliver Nigeria from what he described as “prevailing political cankerworms.”

Recall that Melaye was the master of ceremonies (MC) who anchored the coalition event where the opposition leaders announced their decision to adopt African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their party for the 2027 general elections.

In a resignation letter dated July 30 and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 1 in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Melaye announced his immediate withdrawal from the party and all its activities.

“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation,” the letter in part reads He is an ally of former vice president Atiku Abubakar who earlier this month resigned from the PDP.

Both men who are member of the coalition group, attended the event where the group officially adopted the ADC as its political party.Atiku and Melaye are however yet to become card carrying members of the ADC. Congress (ADC).
