Spanish inflation soared above expectations in February as consumer prices rocketed 7.5% above levels 12 months ago.
This is the highest spike since records began 25 years ago.
Food, beverages, fuel and energy costs were cited as the key reasons, with the government offering tax breaks worth over €7bn to ease the burden on households while energy costs remain high.
