Stolen Lamborghini: Swiss owner speaks on car found in Ghana with Nigerian Number

The controversy surrounding the Lamborghini allegedly stolen in Switzerland and found in Ghana with Nigerian plate number will last much longer as the acclaimed owner of the luxury car, Deniz Torun who is yet to find it has sworn to get back his car.

Torun is the owner of Luxus Car, a luxury car rental company based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Torun told Zurich media, Blick, that he rented out the car to a young man with Ghanaian passport in June. However, the alleged Ghanaian failed to return the car and reportedly upgraded, or deactivated, the GPS, making it difficult for the owner to track.

“He just flew away, even upgraded the GPS. Now I cannot even locate my Lambo,” Torun said at the time.

He told the online media that the last place he tracked the car too was Jestetten, a German town. Switzerland to Germany is 6 hours 48minutes by road, according to Google Maps.

Ghana’s passport reportedly submitted by the alleged Ghanaian.

Checks on TripAdvisor also shows that one can rent a car in Switzerland and drives to other (neigbouring) countries.

“We are optimistic to get the car back – I would even travel to Ghana if I have to,” Torun tells Blick.

Torun said he was sure that the Lamborghini which he spotted via Instagram is his. He added that the Ghanaian has put various pictures of the car on the internet.

Further probed by Legit.ng via Facebook chat, Torun said the man who saw the car (whose identity he did not disclose) saw the Swiss motorway Vignette and the number of signs from the garage he bought the car.

Torun, however, clarified that the man spotted with the car on the internet was not one who rented it but he was also present when the car was rented. “Of course, the gentleman who can be seen in the pictures is not the tenant. But the man was there when the car was rented,” he explained.

The car, Lamborghini Huracan Spyder (610 hp), which is reportedly in the Ghanaian capital city of Accra, has a customized Nigerian/Lagos number plate, ‘Chosen 1’.

“I wonder how they got the Nigerian license plates for a stolen vehicle,” Torun exclusively told Legit.ng.

The Zurich newspaper noted that the luxury sled is located in Accra, wondering how the alleged “thief could get this far”.

Another rental company, Luxury Rental Benelux, which shared the story on Instagram claimed that the acclaimed Ghanaian had reached out to the owner pleading for amicable resolution.

“It’s embarrassing, please delete the pictures of me. We can do that among ourselves,” the man was alleged to have written. The rental company claimed to be a friend of Torun, the alleged owner of the car.

Torun, however, said that the alleged thief had not reached out to him neither did he beg for an amicable resolution.

Also, he said he did not know Luxury Rental Benelux personally but admitted that the rental company sent him the pictures of the car.

Curiously, as at press time, Luxury Rental Benelux has deleted pictures of the car and the alleged thief from its Instagram page. Zurich city police are reportedly aware of the development.
