Task Force shuts markets, arrest 115 COVID-19 violators (Video)

The COVID-19 Taskforce of the Federal Capital Territory stormed the Wuse market in Abuja and shut down the market for failing to adhere to the established health protocols on coronavirus.

The team also arrested 115 persons for failing to wear face masks, sealed off the UTC market and Murg plaza, both located in Area 10, Garki.

While speaking about the incident on Monday, the spokesman for the task force, Attah Ikharo, explained that the arrested persons will be arraigned before a mobile court and fined accordingly.

He stated, “The Wuse market was shut down for failing to provide water, hand washing points and other things prescribed by the law. The market will be closed from 12am Tuesday and shall remain under lock and key until the management provided all the things expected of them.

“Thirty persons were also arrested at the market for not wearing face masks. The UTC market and Murg plaza were equally shut down. Altogether, we arrested and arraigned 115 violators before the Mobile Court.”

Meanwhile, a real estate firm, Taheel Group and Prince Abdul- Fatahi Idrissu Foundation have donated COVID-19 palliatives  to the FCT School for the Blind, Jabi and Destined Children Orphanage Home, Abuja.

The Chairman of the company,  Abdul-Fatai Iddrisu, who was represented by the Head of Sales and Marketing, Taheel Group, Sadiq Ahmad, said the donation was meant to cheer the children up
