Teenager rewarded with car and scholarship after cleaning street for 10 hours

Antonio Gwynn Jr couldn’t believe that taking the personal decision to clean his neighbourhood could change his life so fast but, it really happened.

The young lad spend over 10 hours cleaning his street after a protest, and he has been rewarded with a swish new car, a year’s free insurance and a full scholarship to college.

Speaking with CNN, Antonio Gwynn Jr, said he decided to clean Bailey Avenue, in Buffalo, New York, after he found it littered with broken glass and rubbish.

The teen left his home at 2am, and set about cleaning up the neighbourhood, it was no easy task as he spent the next 10 hours on the job.

The community was highly impressed when they heard of what he did, and among those impressed was Matt Block who decided to give Antonio his 2004 red Mustang convertible.

27-year-old Matt Block told CNN that though he loved the car, he wasn’t really using it, and decided to give it out to someone who was gonna appreciate it.

He said; “I couldn’t come to grips with selling it and this was a good way of getting rid of it and knowing that it’s going to go to someone who appreciates it.”

A local businessman, Bob Briceland also offered up a year’s car insurance to Antonio Gwynn Jr through his insurance agency.

And when news of Antonio’s good deed reached Medaille College in Buffalo they offered him a full scholarship for when he goes there to study business later this year.

Speaking about the moment he heard he’d received the scholarship, Antonio Gwynn Jr told WKBW:

“I literally stopped, pulled over, and started crying. So did my great aunt. My little cousin did also.”

An overwhelmed Antonio added: “I appreciate everything everyone is doing for me.”
