Tragedy strikes in Kano as three-storey building collapses, four confirmed dead, seven injured

At least four people have been confirmed dead and seven others injured aftere a three-storey building under construction collapsed in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge LGA, Kano State.

A report from Leadership, reveals that the tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening shortly after a heavy downpour in the Abedi area.

According to emergency officials, some of the victims were construction workers, while others were passersby who ran into the uncompleted structure to take shelter from the rain.

The Kano State Fire Service and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the incident.

NEMA’s spokesperson, Umar Madigawa, said the agency received a distress call around 6:49 p.m. and immediately activated a joint Search and Rescue operation with other responders.

As of 11:30 a.m. Monday, 11 people had been pulled out of the rubble — four were confirmed dead, while seven survivors were rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing, with hopes that anyone else trapped under the debris will be found.
