Governor Hope Uzodimma has begun political and religious evangelism ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State.

Uzodinma joined Catholic faithfuls for Sunday Worship at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Nwaorieubi in Mbaitoli local government area of state.

While speaking in church, the governor said, “I chose to be today as part of our new political and religious evangelism to create awareness and begin to build confidence back into our people since there is so much fear occasioned by the various acts of violence that has visited our state of late.” Watch video HERE.

The governor also promised to build a school for the church as requested by the parish priest and members of the church.

Thereafter, Uzodinma moved to All Saints Cathedral Church, Egbu (Anglican Communion) in Owerri North LGA to worship with the Anglican faithfuls.

While officiating the service, Rt Rev Geofrey Enyinnaya Okoroafor, Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese disclosed that he had long expected the governor to join the church in its service.

He said, “I have long expected this service and your presence. It is a rare privilege that the Governor decided to worship with us in our cathedral for the very first time.

“Your Thanksgiving next year will be held in this cathedral. There are reasons why we should appreciate you – For year’s now, Imolites has not had the privilege of going to pilgrimage. His Excellency really made us belong. The diocese of Egbu was privileged to get a large slot for the pilgrimage. We thank you for that.

“Some of us living around here know how difficult it has been using the road. But now, somebody can travel from here to Owerri in five minutes. Not to talk of theĀ  Owerri/Orlu. You can close your eyes and drive on that road. We are very grateful. We welcome you our dear Governor.

He also prayed that God, “Lead us… and bring us back in victory. Lift up our State, and the leadership of this State.

We commit our Governor unto Gods gracious hands and care. The good Lord shall widen his vision. The hand of the Lord shall be unto him and reveal to him what you want him to do to develop Imo State.

The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour – The enemy shall never see him as he occupy his leadership position as the Governor of Imo State.

We pray for the peace of this State. Lord we lift the Governor unto you. Fill him with power. Endow him with wisdom from above. May this State know peace in his time. May this State know progress in his time.”

The Governor commended the Bishop for a wonderful homily and urged the congregation to remain steadfast and not allow people instill fear on them. He assured that he will not disappoint every reasonable expectation of Imo people.
