Video: Finland and Sweden open talks to join NATO

The President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto has said that citizens of his country and Sweden are now showing support to plans to join The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Niinisto said the matter will be discussed in the Finnish Parliament.

He made the commend while responding to questions on Fox News.

A recent YLE poll showed, for the first time, over 50% of Finns support joining the military alliance.

A similar poll in neighboring Sweden found around the same percentage want to join NATO.
