Rivers State Government has arrested some police officers and residents, including VIPs, for violating the lockdown orders.
This is coming barely 48 hours after a deputy commissioner of police was alleged by Governor Nyesom Wike of sabotaging the efforts of the government in checking the spread of Coronavirus in Rivers state.
In a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state, the governor on Monday announced a 24-hour total lockdown in Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.
Governor Wike also went around with security men seeing to seizure of vehicles and arrest of many alleged violators of the lockdown order.
In a video which has gone viral on social media, Wike is seen insisting on the arrest of police officers and a VIP they were escorting and ordered that they be taken to the state’s isolation centre.
