Breaking: Senate, House of Reps pass LGA, State Assembly Financial Autonomy Bills

Ninety-two Senators have voted to pass the Local Government Financial Autonomy Bill.

Similarly, Eighty-three senator voted to pass the bill that will provide for the Financial Independence of State Houses of Assembly and State Judiciary.

The House of Representatives also followed in the same line and voted for financial and administrative autonomy for local government councils across the Federation.

The House also voted to amend the Constitution to grant autonomy to State Legislature and Judiciary.

However, the bill that seeks to grant the National Assembly the power to override a presidential veto on an amendment to the constitution failed to muster the required 288 votes.

Two hundred and eighty-four members voted yes to the Constitutional amendment.
