Plateau police gives more details on tanker explosion

The police in Plateau said the tanker explosion that occurred at Bauchi Road junction in Jos North L.G.A claimed 13 lives and 28 stores.

This was revealed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the State Command, Alfred Alabo, during a press statement in Jos on Friday, 29th April.

Alabo said the tanker crashed due to faulty brakes and also destroyed 8 other vehicles, 6 tricycles and 2 motorbikes.

He further said, “The ten persons who sustained various degrees of injuries during the incident are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals.

“Bodies of the deceased have also been buried according to Islamic rights.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, visited the incident scene. He frowned at the action of some youths in the area who vandalized a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official vehicle. He thus advised the residents to avoid lawlessness.
